It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Northwest Knights ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They slipped by Lockland 41-40. The win was just what Northwest needed coming off of a 52-25 loss in their prior matchup.
Despite the loss, Lockland still got an impressive performance from Jaylah Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. Liselle Bradford was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Even though they lost, Lockland were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Northwest's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Lockland, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest will face off against the Fighting Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Healthy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Lockland is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Stingers at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. Seven Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in Ohio (the Stingers are ranked 252nd, while the Panthers are ranked 791st).
