Hamden hasn't had much luck against Notre Dame recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:30 a.m.
Things were looking good for Hamden after they put the first points on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 28-7 to North Haven. While the Green Dragons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Nighthawks 7-0 in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame got themselves on the board against Hillhouse last Friday, but Hillhouse never followed suit. They breezed past the Academics to the tune of 35-0. Considering the Green Knights have won four matchups by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hamden better focus on containing Luke Miklos and Wyatt Verrillo as the pair were huge in Notre Dame's win. Miklos rushed for 127 yards and three TDs, while Verrillo rushed for 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Miklos is becoming a predictor of Notre Dame's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't).
Notre Dame didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hillhouse to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. The Green Knights have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.58 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.58 in their last three games.
Notre Dame's defense didn't let Miller Stolzman, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Miklos and Cody Wieland, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Notre Dame's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.3 points on average over those games. As for Hamden, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Hamden lost to Notre Dame at home by a decisive 21-7 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Green Knights' Joe Capasso, who rushed for 170 yards and two scores. Now that the Green Dragons know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
