The Phillips Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Kenwood 52-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Phillips in their matchups with Kenwood: they've now lost five in a row.
Lawrence Horton and Amari Edwards certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Horton scored 19 points, while Edwards scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Claude Mpouma, who scored two points along with six rebounds.
Phillips struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Phillips now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Kenwood, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Phillips will be playing in front of their home fans against Hyde Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hyde Park is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Kenwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Dyett at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
