Rosepine and DeQuincy are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Rosepine Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the DeQuincy Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rosepine will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Rosepine beat Bunkie 7-2.
Meanwhile, while DeQuincy put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for East Beauregard. DeQuincy was the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over East Beauregard. Considering the Tigers have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Diron Valentine was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because DeQuincy is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise. Valentine was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Dowden, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles. Nolan Schrader was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
DeQuincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Rosepine's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for DeQuincy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.
Everything went Rosepine's way against DeQuincy in their previous meeting on Thursday, as Rosepine made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rosepine since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
