The Northeastern Clinton Cougars lost against the Moriah Vikings back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Northeastern Clinton fell 51-41 to Moriah. While losing is never fun, Northeastern Clinton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Moriah is ranked 90th).
Northeastern Clinton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cyle Marshall, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Brown, who scored 11 points.
Moriah got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Allen out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Pelkey, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Northeastern Clinton's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Moriah, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road.
Northeastern Clinton's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Seton Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Moriah, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake George at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake George is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game.
