Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Satellite Scorpions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 62-0 loss at the hands of Mainland on Friday. While losing is never fun, Satellite can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Mainland is ranked 22nd).
Dennis Murray jr. looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Corey Hill also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Mainland's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Satellite are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-4 Palm Bay and 6-5 Merritt Island (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.9% over those games). As for Mainland, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Satellite does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mainland has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Rockledge at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th.
