They weren't the only ones making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Bly, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, while Cannon put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Charlotte Country Day School. The Cougars blew past the Buccaneers 13-0. Considering the Cougars have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Layla Wagner and Jolie Matthews did most of the damage at the plate: Wagner went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Matthews went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Viola Knosby was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Cannon pushed their record up to 11-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte Latin, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Charlotte Latin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like Cannon struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
