After a string of three wins, the Worthington Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 52-44 to Columbus Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Worthington Christian of the 50-45 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Worthington Christian still got an impressive performance from Samuel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonah Lewis, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Worthington Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Columbus Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Worthington Christian will head out on the road to take on Buckeye Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Buckeye Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Worthington Christian is ranked 121st). As for Columbus Academy, they will be playing at home against Whitehall-Yearling at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whitehall-Yearling is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
