The Soquel Knights won against the Palma Chieftains last Friday with 14 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Soquel came out on top against Palma by a score of 14-7. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Soquel was the (much) better team in the second half.
Leading Soquel to victory were Sam Whelan and Jordan Mccord. Whelan threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, while Mccord picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Soquel's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Santa Cruz and 2-6 Everett Alvarez (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.2% over those games). As for Palma, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Soquel will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Aptos at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Palma, they will be playing at home against Salinas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Salinas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
