The Gateway Eagles will take on the Immokalee Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Gateway saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palmetto Ridge.
Jacoby Bush was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Gateway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Medina, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another was Devyn Vitiello, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Immokalee). They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over East Lee County on Thursday. The Indians not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8, 2025 (when they won 24-1).
Adrian Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Gutierrez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kristian Trevino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Immokalee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Immokalee's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-17. As for Gateway, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
