The Millennium Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Millennium will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Millennium proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 13) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out River Islands 6-5. The six-run effort marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The team relied heavily on Nora Coutts, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Lanie Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Ben Holt College Prep Academy was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Venture Academy as they made off with an 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Emma Valli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Julieann Drulias was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Mindy Claypool was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Millennium pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.8 runs this season. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Millennium has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .598. However, it's not like Ben Holt College Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Millennium's way against Ben Holt College Prep Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2018, as Millennium made off with an 18-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
