The Euclid Panthers will square off against the Lorain Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Euclid has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Euclid came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-8 to Cleveland Heights. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Lorain entered their tilt with Garfield Heights on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 17-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won eight contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Charlton and Ja'Ly Cortes did most of the damage at the plate: Charlton went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Cortes got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Cortes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alysandria Lighty, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lorain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Lorain's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Euclid, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Euclid might still be hurting after the 21-6 loss they got from Lorain when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
