The East Lake Eagles entered their tilt with the Clearwater Tornadoes with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. East Lake took down Clearwater 45-31 on Friday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points East Lake has scored all year.
East Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Brown out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Becker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
East Lake pushed their record up to 16-6 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Clearwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lake's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Dunedin at 7:45 p.m. on January 29th. Dunedin is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Clearwater, they will be playing at home against Springstead at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Springstead focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
