Volleyball Recap: Italy Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Italy won the last time they faced Itasca and things went their way on Friday too. The Gladiators blew past the Wampus Cats 3-0.

While Italy might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Itasca scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 27-25.

Camdyn Owen paced Italy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Owen got some help from Olivia Ramirez and her 15 assists. Finally, Owen was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.

Itasca's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kylee Montes, who had 12 digs, and Emma Malke, who had 13 digs and one assist. Malke is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Italy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Itasca, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-15.

Italy has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Wortham on the 30th. As for Itasca, after both having extra time off, they and Dawson will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
