This was payback for Santa Gertrudis Academy, who suffered a 68-60 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Falfurrias lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quisto Sanchez, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Viktor Perez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Falfurrias, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 26-6 record this season.
