The Hayfork Timberjacks will face off against the Big Valley Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hayfork comes in on five and Big Valley on four.
Hayfork is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Surprise Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hayfork blew Surprise Valley out of the water with an 85-21 final score. The Timberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Levi Cavalli, who posted 26 points and seven steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. Sam Jessee was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.
Hayfork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Valley). They blew past Dunsmuir 69-37 on Monday. With that win, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Hayfork better focus on containing Juan Flores and Josue Barba as the pair were huge in Big Valley's win. Flores dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 11 boards, and 11 assists, while Barba earned 16 points along with seven steals and five assists. The dominant performance gave Flores a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Edgerton, who had 11 points.
Hayfork is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.3 points. As for Big Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Hayfork took their win against Big Valley in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 68-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Barba, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Hayfork still be able to contain Barba? There's only one way to find out.
