Baseball Recap: Casteel Finds Playoff Glory Versus Millennium

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Casteel walked away with it. They never let the Millennium Tigers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Tuesday. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Cayden Hokanson, who gave up just two hits to keep Millennium off the board. Hokanson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Connor Russell and Baylor Denny did most of the damage at the plate: Russell went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Denny went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Denny has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Andres Armenta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Casteel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Casteel's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Millennium, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 21-9 record.

Casteel and Millennium are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Colts will square off against Mountain View on Saturday. Casteel's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Toros have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Millennium, they will challenge Desert Vista on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
