On Saturday, St. Charles East beat Neuqua Valley 52-45. Given St. Charles East's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Neuqua Valley is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Lexi DiOrio, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Corinne Reed, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
St. Charles East pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Neuqua Valley, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Charles East will be home for the holidays to greet Batavia at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Neuqua Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Aurora Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Aurora Central Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
