The Vincennes Rivet Patriots will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Cannelton Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Vincennes Rivet, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-42 loss to North Knox. Vincennes Rivet has struggled against North Knox recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-30, which was the final score in Cannelton's tilt against Medora on Friday. Cannelton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cannelton's loss came about despite a quality game from Trevor Hale, who scored 11 points. Hale scored a full 36.7% of Cannelton's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Vincennes Rivet bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cannelton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Vincennes Rivet beat Cannelton 65-56 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cannelton's Logan Larson, who scored 19 points.
