Basketball Recap: College Park Drops Season-High Score on Caney Creek

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask College Park). They were the clear victor by a 54-28 margin over the Caney Creek Panthers on Tuesday. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Panthers are ranked 1062nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

College Park was led to victory by Gretchen Wright and Kk Forge. Wright went 8 for 14 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds, while Forge went 7 of 9 on her way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Forge a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valentina Campos, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

College Park is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 33.6% in those games and 24.5% outside of them. As for Caney Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

College Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-42 win against The Woodlands on the 20th. As for Caney Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-27 victory against New Caney on the 20th.
