Central Cambria has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Greater Johnstown Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Central Cambria has not done well against Richland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Central Cambria enjoyed a cozy 63-49 win over Richland.
Central Cambria found their leader in underclassman Brayden Swope, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Swope also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Iacono, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Greater Johnstown waltzed into Monday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 81-30 victory over Bishop McCort on the road. Fans of Greater Johnstown have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Central Cambria now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Greater Johnstown, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Central Cambria took a serious blow against Greater Johnstown in their previous meeting back in January, falling 78-34. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Central Cambria was down 46-21.
