The Banneker Bulldogs won against the McKinley Tech Trainers last Friday with 62 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Banneker secured a 62-56 W over McKinley Tech. The win was nothing new for Banneker as they're now sitting on three straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Banneker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Doran Clausell, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clausell has scored at least a third of Banneker's points. Jeremiah Shelton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why McKinley Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is DaMontae Neclos. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricardo Hardy, who scored eight points.
Banneker's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. As for McKinley Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banneker will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked 15th, while Roosevelt is ranked eighth). As for McKinley Tech, they will head out on the road to take on Woodson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McKinley Tech is facing Woodson at the right time seeing as Woodson is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
