With a playoff game on the line, the Mayfield Trojans rose to the challenge on Friday. They slipped by Gadsden 13-12. The victory was some much needed relief for Mayfield as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Gadsden's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alfredo Andrade, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Adrian Munoz, who threw for 163 yards and a touchdown.
Mayfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Gadsden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Mayfield will head out on the road to face off against Roswell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roswell will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Gadsden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
