Millard West is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bellevue West is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Millard West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Bellevue East on Monday as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Wildcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 (when they won 11-1).
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Bellevue West made sure to put some runs up on the board against Park Hill South on Monday. The Thunderbirds were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Thunderbirds have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bellevue West got a great performance from Cole Madden as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Madden has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Drew Grego was incredible, firing off three home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ortez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Bellevue West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Millard West is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.33 runs across that stretch. As for Bellevue West, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
