East Central is 8-2 against Steele since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. East Central will look to defend their home field against Steele at 7:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, East Central didn't have quite enough to beat Judson and fell 5-4.
East Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marissa Delgado, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, East Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Steele entered their tilt with Clemens on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Buffaloes. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.
Avery BrAdy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Brady was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Steele let Janice Corona and Alyssa Vicenty run wild. Corona went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Vicenty scored a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria Salinas, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Steele pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for East Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Steele struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Central skirted past Steele 7-5 in their previous matchup back in February. Does East Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Steele turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
