The Bayfield Wolverines will take on the Alamosa Mean Moose at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bayfield has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bayfield is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They lost 15-5 to Montezuma-Cortez. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly ten runs.
Bayfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Wilmer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alamosa). They put the hurt on Centauri with a sharp 21-3 win last Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mean Moose as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Evan Anderson made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Pittman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan Maez, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Alamosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Alamosa, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything went Bayfield's way against Alamosa in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Bayfield made off with a 16-10 victory. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mean Moose turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
