Notre Dame Academy will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Millbury, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Woolies 6-5 on Sunday.
Erin Connor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Connor was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Sharry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Maddy Burgoyne was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Doherty Memorial never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against North on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Polar Bears. Considering the Highlanders have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Audrey Lefebvre was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Panagiotou, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Doherty Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Doherty Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Notre Dame Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Doherty Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
