Shadow Ridge and Arbor View are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will take on the Aggies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Shadow Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Shadow Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked ninth at the time (Shadow Ridge was ranked third). The Mustangs came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 9-5 last Thursday.
Katelynn Quidato spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Madison Foster was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosely Hensley-Mokiao, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shadow Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Arbor View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Gaels 7-5. The game was the first time the Aggies have beaten the Gaels on their field since March 21, 2015.
Arbor View also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ava Henderson gave up five earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Arbor View let Madilyn Lowy and Breya Hee run wild. Lowy went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hee went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Malaya Tellis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Arbor View pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Shadow Ridge, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shadow Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Arbor View struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
