With a playoff game on the line, the South Lake Eagles rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over the Mustangs. Winning may never get old, but South Lake sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than David PINA, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. PINA hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Pina, who scored 13 points along with three blocks.
South Lake pushed their record up to 15-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Wekiva, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.
South Lake will square off against Edgewater at TBD on Thursday. Edgewater presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Lake in Florida (Edgewater is ranked 19th, while South Lake is ranked 226th). Wekiva does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
