The Badin Rams will head out to challenge the Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Badin sitting on 14 straight victories and Chaminade Julienne Catholic on six.
Last Thursday, Badin made easy work of Fairfield and carried off a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Luke Campbell looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Kade Bowling was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten games. Another player making a difference was James Brink, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Chaminade Julienne Catholic duked it out with Bishop Fenwick on Monday. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Falcons.
Isaac Sullivan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colin Kadel, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Badin's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chaminade Julienne Catholic, their record is now 13-6.
Chaminade Julienne Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Badin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. It's a different story for Chaminade Julienne Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Badin's hitters?
Badin was able to grind out a solid win over Chaminade Julienne Catholic in their previous meeting back in April, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
