Jamarcea Plater Drops League-Best Effort on Friday
Starting off the list is Captain Shreve's Jamarcea Plater, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Plater's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 175 rushing yards dating back to last season. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 67 yards.
Captain Shreve's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. Plater and Captain Shreve will challenge Evangel Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

A Season-Best Performance from Ben Taylor Leads Airline over Captain Shreve
Ben Taylor produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Airline to the win on Friday. Taylor threw for 573 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 71.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 52 yards on only five carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now passed for four or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
The victory for Airline keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Taylor and Airline will square off against Parkway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Christian Maxie Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Byrd came up short on Thursday despite Christian Maxie delivering his best game to date. Maxie rushed for 291 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (137.4). He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.
With the defeat, Byrd broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-1. Maxie and Byrd will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Huntington at 7:00 p.m.

Airline was led to victory by Jarvis Davis, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Davis picked up 271 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. He's now once again averaging 100+ receiving yards (132.2) per game.
On the season, Davis has caught 6 touchdowns while averaging 132.2 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after five games last season, he was only averaging 83.8 receiving yards per game.

Darby Came Up Big in Airline's 69-68 Victory
Airline picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Kenny Darby. Captain Shreve had no answer to Darby as he picked up 154 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Darby's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 117 receiving yards dating back to last season.
For the season, Darby has caught 10 touchdowns while averaging 166 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after five games last season, he was only averaging 52.2 receiving yards per game.
