Monticello fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against White Hall  on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the White Hall Bulldogs by a score of  5-3. The Billies have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
  Tye Guthrie put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing six innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. Guthrie was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances with one  RBI.
Monticello now  has a losing record of 2-3. As for White Hall, their win  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 3-2.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will challenge Magnolia at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for White Hall, they will take on Wynne at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
