The North Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Maryvale and snuck past 69-66. The victory was just what North needed coming off of a 63-43 defeat in their prior game.
North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trystan Williams, who scored 13 points along with seven blocks and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vicente Castro, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists.
North's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-10. As for Maryvale, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North and Carl Hayden Community will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Carl Hayden Community presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North in Arizona (Carl Hayden Community is ranked 96th, while North is ranked 206th). As for Maryvale, they will be playing at home against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
