Baseball Recap: Weston Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Weston won the last time they faced Choudrant and things went their way on Friday too. The Weston Wolves put the hurt on the Choudrant Aggies with a sharp 16-6 win. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Sawyer Watkins made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ty Henderson was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Bryce Zehr was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Weston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Choudrant only posted an OBP of .240.

Weston is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Choudrant dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weston will square off against Hamburg at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Choudrant, they will challenge Quitman at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Choudrant has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
