The London Red Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the Jonathan Alder Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jonathan Alder will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: London extended their winning streak to seven on Monday. The Red Raiders put the hurt on Tecumseh with a sharp 16-6 victory.
Sophie Alt made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Alt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, London let Khloe Cunningham and Samantha Webb run wild. Cunningham went 4-for-5 with one home run and five RBI, while Webb scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four hits gave Cunningham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gwyn Wieber, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
London kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jonathan Alder). They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Urbana on Monday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Hillclimbers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Natalie Neumeier, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Ava Schellhammer also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
London pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jonathan Alder, their record is now 5-7.
Jonathan Alder's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: London has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Jonathan Alder, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given London's sizable advantage in that area, the Pioneers will need to find a way to close that gap.
London took their victory against Jonathan Alder in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
