The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Legacy Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cimarron-Memorial has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight defeats, while Legacy will come in with three straight wins.
On Thursday, Cimarron-Memorial came up short against Rancho and fell 6-2.
Isaiah Romero was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cayden Cavallone, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Legacy faced Bishop Gorman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Longhorns came out on top against the Gaels by a score of 10-5.
Legacy got a big performance out of Bomani Satterfield, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Satterfield is becoming a predictor of the Longhorns' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of William Glover, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Cimarron-Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Legacy, their record now sits at 12-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cimarron-Memorial has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cimarron-Memorial might still be hurting after the 17-7 defeat they got from Legacy when the teams last played back in March. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
