The Clarksville Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They took down Northeast 70-56. Clarksville pushed the score to 51-31 by the end of the third, a deficit Northeast cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clarksville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kellen J howard, who scored 23 points. J howard hasn't dropped below 17 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheldon Huber, who scored 18 points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Young, who scored nine points along with eight assists. It was the first time this season that Young posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Markus Bennett, who scored six points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Northeast were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Clarksville's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.
Clarksville will be playing at home against Rossview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rossview's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games. As for Northeast, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Kenwood at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
