The Sayre Spartans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fairview 48-8 at home. Considering Sayre has won eight matches by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Luke Pennington, who threw for 184 yards and five touchdowns on only ten passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Ca'den Jones, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Sayre's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-12 Berea and 2-9 Fairview (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.5% over those games). As for Fairview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Sayre will play host again and welcome Paris, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Paris will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. Fairview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
