In what's become a running theme this season, Hammond gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by Ben Lippen on the road to the tune of 64-25. While fans of Hammond might be used to big wins, the 39-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Meanwhile, Augusta Christian earned a 48-40 win over the Fightin' Irish on Monday. Given Augusta Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Fightin' Irish are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Augusta Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylee Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jackson pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Booker, who scored four points along with ten rebounds.
Hammond has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Augusta Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.
Everything went Hammond's way against the Lions when the teams last played last Tuesday as the Skyhawks made off with a 45-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hammond since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
