Basketball Recap: South Putnam Takes a Loss

After a string of four wins, South Putnam's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were beaten by the Covenant Christian Warriors 52-25. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Warriors are ranked 106th).

Covenant Christian found their leader in sophomore Moriah Armstrong, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Armstrong is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Haffner, who posted nine points.

South Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Covenant Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Putnam will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sullivan at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Covenant Christian also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Tournament Team at 10:00 a.m. on January 4, 2025.
