The Jacksonville Golden Eagles will face off against the Lincoln Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jacksonville was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wellborn on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Dailyn Wood and KeAsiah Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Wood went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Williams went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Williams a new career-high. Harper Atchley was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lincoln had just enough and edged out Ohatchee 8-7 on Monday.
Cameron Pruitt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Smith, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-13-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Jacksonville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jacksonville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jacksonville beat Lincoln 14-11 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
