South Panola (Batesville, Miss.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used two fourth quarter points to seal the 29-6 victory over
Southaven (Miss.).
After taking the lead on a
Darrell Henderson touchdown run in the first quarter, the Tigers were up 13-0 at the half.
By the end of the third, South Panola found itself trailing by five points as the Chargers captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. Southaven scored on a two-point conversion and a
Shea Chism touchdown pass to
Terence Davis Jr. in the quarter.
Southaven's lone touchdown came on a 9-yard pass from Chism to Davis Jr. in the third quarter.
Coming into the game SP had allowed 18.3 points per game this year.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 35-33 win for the Batesville school.
The loss was the third in a row for SHS.
Southaven (5-5) goes up against DeSoto Central in a 6A Region 1 game matchup next week, while South Panola (9-1) locks horns with Grenada also in a 6A Region 1 game.
