Discovery is 3-0 against Mulberry since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Discovery Spartans will get right back to it and host the Mulberry Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on January 25th. Discovery will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak alive.
Even though Discovery has not done well against Auburndale recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Discovery had just enough and edged Auburndale out 61-58. Given Discovery's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Auburndale is ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Darius Livingston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Discovery's points. Another player making a difference was Willie Wilson, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, even though Lakeland Christian scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Mulberry still came out on top. Mulberry walked away with a 69-57 victory over Lakeland Christian.
Discovery's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Mulberry, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Discovery took their win against Mulberry in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 74-52. Will Discovery repeat their success, or does Mulberry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
