The Discovery Spartans suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They took a serious blow against Sebring, falling 54-14. While losing is never fun, Discovery can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while Sebring is ranked 305th).
Sebring got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shamari Jones out in front who scored 13 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Molly Jane Zwayer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Discovery dropped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.6 points per game. As for Sebring, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Discovery will be playing in front of their home fans against Mulberry at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sebring, they will head out on the road to face off against Clewiston at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
