Maloney has gone a perfect 10-0 against Platt recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Spartans will challenge the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. Maloney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Maloney will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Berlin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Spartans came out on top against the Redcoats by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.
Stella Cicero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Remi Rosado, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Platt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They lost 24-6 to Plainville. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Adrienne McDonald made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Danerys Mosquea also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Maloney's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Platt, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.
Platt's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Maloney has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Platt, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Maloney's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Maloney got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Platt by a conclusive 18-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
