Basketball Recap: Statesville Christian Has No Trouble Against Sheets Memorial Christian

Statesville Christian had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 26-point drubbing they dealt Sheets Memorial Christian on Tuesday. The Statesville Christian Lions were the clear victor by a 32-6 margin over the Sheets Memorial Christian Eagles. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Statesville Christian found their leader in sophomore Addison Layne, who posted six points along with 11 rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Layne. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Layne, who had six points and three steals.

Statesville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The win (which was Statesville Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points per game. As for Sheets Memorial Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coincidentally, Statesville Christian and Sheets Memorial Christian will both be playing Cornerstone Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Sheets Memorial Christian will host Cornerstone Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Statesville Christian will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
