After flying high against Lincoln Northwest on Friday, Elkhorn came back down to earth. The Elkhorn Antlers took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gretna East Griffins on Saturday. Several Antlers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Lamski, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points. Nixon Farmer was another key player, putting up 13 points.
Gretna East was led to victory by Drayke Brown and Talan Hovie. Brown went 8 of 9 on his way to 19 points, while Hovie posted 13 points and six rebounds. Brown continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Rhoades, who put up eight points.
Elkhorn's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Gretna East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Elkhorn will take on Hastings in a tournament on Saturday. Elkhorn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season. As for Gretna East, they will be taking part in a tournament against Elkhorn North at 1:30 p.m. on December 28th. One thing working in Elkhorn North's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
