Little River is 7-0 against Herington since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Little River Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the Herington Railroaders at 7:00 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Little River had to suffer through a rough 67-17 loss at the hands of Moundridge. While losing is never fun, Little River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Moundridge is ranked 55th).
Meanwhile, Herington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 74-46 win over Peabody-Burns. With Herington ahead 39-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Herington can attribute much of their success to Mason Mortensen, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, and Tyus Becker, who scored 33 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mortensen has scored at least 25% of Herington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sumner Schlesener, who scored five points.
Little River now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Herington, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything came up roses for Little River against Herington in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 64-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Little River since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
