After a string of six wins, the Urbana Hillclimbers's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellefontaine. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Urbana came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Bellefontaine is ranked 413th).
Urbana's loss came despite strong showings from Lyza Forson and Peyton Mounce. Forson scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Mounce dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Mounce is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Spriggs, who scored four points.
It was another big night for Tiffany Boop, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds for Bellefontaine. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boop has scored all season. Parker Penhorwood was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Urbana's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2. As for Bellefontaine, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-6.
Urbana will head out on the road to square off against Tecumseh at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bellefontaine, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Kenton Ridge at 1:30 p.m. Kenton Ridge is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
