Hope Christian and Bernalillo are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Huskies will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hope Christian has three straight victories, Bernalillo has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Hope Christian beats Bernalillo with 13 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Del Norte on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Avery Dearholt looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Luciano Gabaldon was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Hunter Solwick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Hope Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bernalillo came up short against Valley on Tuesday and fell 10-6.
Bernalillo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Uriel Castro, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Isaac Acosta, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Bernalillo's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Hope Christian, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-6.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hope Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Bernalillo struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hope Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Bernalillo in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
